Windland worked with Shell Wind Energy to develop the Cotterel Mountain Wind project. The project will be located on land administered by the US Bureau of Land Management atop Cotterel Mountain in Cassia County, Idaho.
The Wind Energy Power Plant will include up to 100 wind turbines, and depending on turbine selection and the size of the power purchase contract, is expected to generate enough electricity to power more than 50,000 homes.
Windland financed a comprehensive environmental impact analysis of the Cotterel project and was pleased to receive a Right-of-Way grant from the BLM. In fact, the Programatic EIS for wind energy projects issued by the BLM was partially modeled after the review conducted on Cotterel Mountain.
The project will provide jobs and revenues to the local community, to the state, and to the federal government.
The power generated from this project could be sold to a number of off takers, the most likely of which is Idaho Power.
The Cotterel Mountain wind project is expected to begin operation by 2014.
